    Florida SouthWestern righthander Alejandro Valiente will be sticking around Fort Myers for two more years, it just won’t be on the campus of FSW, as the Bucs sophomore has signed to play at Florida Gulf Coast University next season.

    A fourth Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer will be headed to the professional ranks this season as sophomore flamethrower Nicholas Regalado has signed a free agent deal to join the Kansas City Royals organization. 
  • Bucs Ace Ellerts Drafted by Guardians

    Another Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer ace is headed to the professional ranks as Tuesday righthander Magnus Ellerts heard his name called in the 11th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cleveland Guardians making him the fifth FSW pitcher to go in the Top 13 rounds of the draft in the past two seasons.

    After setting new single season records for doubles (24) and RBIs (55) in 2022, Florida SouthWestern shortstop Jose Izarra made more program history on Tuesday as he became the highest drafted position player in program history when he heard his name called in the 14th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    Florida SouthWestern freshman Satchell Norman was selected in the 15th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday making him the first Buccaneers freshman position player ever taken in the draft.

    44 Florida SouthWestern student-athletes from all five teams were honored by the NJCAA, FCSAA, Suncoast and Southern Conferences for their work in the classroom this year on Monday as the group saw awards given for NJCAA All-Academic, Academic All-State, and Academic All-Conference accolades.

But it won’t just be one Buccaneer sharing the stage and competing against the best amateur players from around the country, there will be five, all suiting up for the team the 2001 film Summer Catch made famous, the Chatham A’s.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers saw their season come to a close this weekend at City of Palms Park and the final chapter of their 2022 campaign was written on Monday as the Bucs finished the season ranked #13 in the final NJCAA National Poll.

    The #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers battled back late from a 3-0 deficit to tie game three of the Fort Myers Regional Sunday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, but a 9th inning run from Indian River broke a 3-3 tie and the Bucs were unable to score in their final trips to the plate, falling 4-3 to end their 2022 season. 
  • Bucs Upended To Force Deciding Game Three

    The #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored three runs in the top of the 1st as the visiting team at home at City of Palms Park Saturday afternoon against the Indian River Pioneers in game two of the Fort Myers Regional portion of the FCSAA State Tournament, but they didn't score again as the Bucs went six innings without a hit after the hot start and watched as their lead disintegrated  in the 4th inning and the Pioneers took a lead they never relinquished in the 5th as Indian River took the game 4-3 to force a third and deciding game in the series.  
  • Ellerts, Holiday Shutout Indian River to Open Postseason

    Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year Magnus Ellerts threw six scoreless innings and Suncoast Conference Fireman of the Year Brian Holiday threw three innings of one hit baseball to close out the shutout as the #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers cruised past the Indian River Pioneers 7-0 in game one of their best of three series to kick off the 2022 FCSAA State Tournament in Fort Myers.

    The Suncoast Conference Champion Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were scattered all over the league’s All-Conference teams released on Monday as a conference high 13 Bucs earned honors led by Magnus Ellerts who was named the Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year and Brian Holiday who was tabbed the conference’s Fireman of the Year.

    After picking up FCSAA Pitcher of the Week honors Tuesday for his dominating performance against the Polk State Eagles last week, Florida SouthWestern freshman Brian Holiday one upped himself on Wednesday as the reliever was named the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week as announced by the National Office.  He is the first Buccaneer in program history to earn the honors. 
  • Bucs Seal Up Suncoast Conference's Best Season In 15+ Years

    The #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers wrapped up the best regular season by a Suncoast Conference team in at least 15 years on Wednesday, blasting the State College of Florida Manatees 14-5 to finish the regular season 40-14 overall and a sparkling 24-4 in conference play.

    Ben Peterson threw five scoreless innings and Alejandro Valiente and Nicholas Regalado threw two each to finish things off as the #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers blanked the ASA Miami Silver Storm 9-0 Monday afternoon in the final regular season game ever at the historic City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers jumped back into the Top 10 of the NJCAA National Rankings on Monday, moving up two spots to #9 after a perfect 4-0 week to seal up their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship.

    Ronny Medina, Paxton Tomaini, and Kalvin Alexander homered and Frank Elissalt threw five solid innings on the mound as the #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put it on the visiting Hillsborough Hawks 12-2 on Sophomore Day at City of Palms Park Saturday. 
  • Bucs Bash Titans to Sweep Season Series

    The #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back Friday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, using a strong pitching effort from Magnus Ellerts and a 13 hit attack from the offense for a 12-3 win to finish a seven game season sweep of the St. Petersburg Titans.

    Behind an outstanding effort out of the bullpen from Brian Holiday and clutch late RBI double from Simon Baumer, the #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers claimed their third consecutive Suncoast Conference Championship Wednesday night on the road in Winter Haven, hanging on for a 2-1 win over the Polk State Eagles to start the celebration and send themselves into the postseason on a high note.

    Sometimes relief pitchers come in and get an out to get their team out of a jam, or sometimes they throw a scoreless inning to close out a win, and then there is what Grant Besser did for the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Monday afternoon in Downtown Fort Myers.  Besser entered early in what was shaping up to be a shootout between the Bucs and the State College of Florida Manatees and threw five innings of sparkling relief, allowing just one run to will FSW to a 9-6 win to clinch the series win and cut the Bucs magic number for their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship to just one.
