FORT MYERS, Fla.- Ben Peterson threw five scoreless innings and Alejandro Valiente and Nicholas Regalado threw two each to finish things off as the #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers blanked the ASA Miami Silver Storm 9-0 Monday afternoon in the final regular season game ever at the historic City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.

The Bucs wasted little time in jumping on the Silver Storm, scoring three times in the bottom of the 1st inning, highlighted by RBI knocks from Paxton Tomaini and Simon Baumer to give FSW a 3-0 lead after one.

After a quick top of the 2nd from FSW starter Ben Peterson, the Bucs added more in the bottom of the frame as Matthew Corpas tripled to start the inning and scored on a passed ball before Satchell Norman and Jose Izarra doubled home runs to make it a 6-0 ballgame.

Peterson remained in control on the mound, cruising through five while allowing just three hits and keeping the shutout intact before handing the ball over to the bullpen in the 6th as the Bucs continued to lead it 6-0.

FSW had a chance to put the game away in the 6th as they loaded the bases with two outs, but a pop up to shallow right field ended the threat and kept it 6-0 after six complete.

Alejandro Valiente worked a quick 1-2-3 top of the 7th and Nicholas Regalado worked around a couple of free passes in the 8th to work a scoreless frame and keep it a 6-0 game.

The Bucs put the game on ice in the bottom of the 8th as Tomaini came through with a two out RBI double to make it 7-0 and Ronny Medina banged another double off the wall to plate two more to stretch the lead to 9-0.

All that was left in question was whether the Bucs would finish off the shutout and Regalado made sure the answer to that question was yes as he blew through the bottom of the Silver Storm order in the 9th to close out the 9-0 victory for FSW.

The Bucs outhit the Silver Storm 11-4 as Peterson went five shutout frames, allowing just three hits and striking out four to earn the win to improve to 3-1 on the year while Valiente and Regalado each threw two scoreless frames while striking out two each to finish off the shutout.

Winland was 2-3 with a double and three runs scored batting out of the leadoff spot for the first time this season while Tomaini was 2-5 with a double and a pair of RBIs.

The Bucs improve to 39-14 with the win while ASA finishes the regular season at 12-30. FSW sweeps the six game season series against the Silver Storm and moves to 27-0 all time against ASA.

FSW will have a chance to claim their 40th win of the regular season in their finale on Wednesday when they go to take on State College of Florida for a 6 PM first pitch from Wynn Field in Bradenton.
