  • Bucs/Silver Storm Postponed Due to Rain
    February 26, 2020
    The first measurable rainfall in three weeks in Southwest Florida came on the wrong day as the Florida SouthWestern State Softball team was forced to postpone their scheduled doubleheader with ASA Miami Wednesday due to wet playing conditions and future forecasts for more precipitation in the area later in the day. The 3rd ranked Bucs will return to the field on Friday in a huge non-conference doubleheader against #3 Central Florida at 2 PM at City of Palms Park in a rematch of last season’s FCSAA State Championship game. 
  • Bucs Ellis Named NJCAA National Player of the Week

    Following a dominating week at the plate, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Natavia Ellis has been named the NJCAA National Player of the Week.
  • Ellis Named FCSAA Player of the Week

    Ellis had a monster week for the Bucs, hitting .714 with two home runs, 16 RBIs and nine runs scored in the middle of the FSW order.  She had hits in all seven games she saw action in and drove in runs in six of the seven. Her best game of the week came against Ave Maria when she went 3-3 with a single, a double, a home run, and 6 RBIs to lead the Bucs to a run rule win.  She wrapped up the week by going 2-3 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Bucs knocked off #5 Chipola in a rematch of the 2019 District H Championship game.  On the season Ellis is hitting .583 with four home runs and 29 RBIs.
  • Ellefson Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week

    Ellefson was nearly perfect for the Bucs last week, going 4-0 without allowing a single earned run in 14 1/3 innings pitched.  She yielded just seven hits while striking out 20 on the week.  Thursday against Ave Maria she struck out seven in three innings of work while Sunday she went 3 1/3 hitless frames to beat Tallahassee. On the season Ellefson is 8-1 with a 0.72 ERA in 38 2/3 innings pitched. 
  • Big Weekend Keeps Bucs at #3 in National Poll

    The Florida SouthWestern State Softball held steady in the NJCAA National Poll this week, checking in at #3 for the third straight week with their 16-1 record to start the 2020 season.  
  • Bucs Down Tallahassee, Knock Off Defending Champs Chipola in Sanford

    The #3 Florida SouthWestern State Softball team earned two more solid regular season wins on Sunday, first putting it on Tallahassee 12-4 before upending the defending National Champion Chipola Indians 8-4 to wrap up a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Courtney Miller Invitational in Sanford.
  • #3 FSW Breezes Past Region 8 Foes

    Playing in the place they hope to be come May at the FCSAA State Tournament in Sanford, the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers continued a dominant stretch on Saturday, first blanking Santa Fe 8-0 in a run rule before taking it to Florida State College at Jacksonville 8-1 to pick up their 10th straight win. 
  • Bucs Bomb Gyrenes in Naples

    If you are a pitcher and value your ERA, you probably want to steer clear of the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers right now. The Buccaneers put on another show Thursday night in Naples, putting up 31 runs in a 18-1, 13-0 doubleheader sweep of Ave Maria. FSW has now outscored their last seven opponents by a count of 92-5. 
  • Bucs Continue Roll Against ASA

    NJCAA Softball teams in the Miami area are going to get real tired of the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers; if they have't already. A week after outscoring Miami Dade 23-1 in a doubleheader, the Bucs put it on ASA-Miami 15-1 and 14-2 on Tuesday in a twinbill, improving their 2020 record to 10-1. 
  • Bucs Remain #3 in National Poll

    For the second straight week, the Florida SouthWestern State Softball team checked in at #3 in the NJCAA National Rankings released by the National Office on Monday. 
  • Bucs Outscore Sharks 24-1 in Doubleheader Sweep

    The #3 Florida SouthWestern Softball team dominated Miami Dade in doubleheader action Tuesday afternoon, outscoring the Sharks 24-1 in a pair of run rule contests to sweep the doubleheader in the two teams first meetings of the year.

    Off to a 6-1 start to their season, the Florida SouthWestern State Softball team was ranked 3rd in the NJCAA’s first regular season poll of 2020. 
  • #2 FSW Earns Two Wins Over Ranked Foes

    The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Softball team rebounded from their first loss of the season in a major way on Saturday, defeating #19 Southern Idaho 7-5 and #14 Chattanooga State 9-0 to wrap up their stay at the 2020 Visit Dothan Invitational Tournament.

    The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Softball team split a pair of games on the road in Dothan, Alabama Friday, downing Northwest Florida State 9-3 before dropping a heartbreaking 5-4 extra innings affair with #5 Salt Lake to wrap up the day. 
  • Bucs Blow Past Broward For Doubleheader Sweep

    In both ends of their doubleheader Tuesday night at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, it took the #2 Florida SouthWestern State Softball team a little bit of time to get going. But once they did get going, they couldn't be stopped as the Bucs put together a sweep of the visiting Broward Seahawks, with scores of 13-0 and 9-1 to improve to 3-0 on the young season.  
  • Bucs Slug Way to Opening Day Win

    The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers started 2020 the way they closed 2019, as one of the most feared offensive teams in the country as the Bucs pounded out 11 hits, 6 of them for extra bases in an 11-0 run rule win over Lake Sumter State to open up their season Saturday in Clearwater.

    On the heels of yet another 50 win season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Softball team has high expectations yet again in 2020 as they were tabbed the #2 team in the land on Tuesday as the NJCAA released their annual Preseason Top 20 Rankings. 
  • Laudino Signs with Ragin' Cajuns, Ellefson to Maryland

    Two more Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer Softball players will be making their way to the NCAA Division I level next season as shortstop Rebeca Laudino signed with Louisiana-Lafayette and utility player Haley Ellefson inked with the University of Maryland Wednesday in a signing ceremony in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
  • Iamurri Adds Two Assistants to Fill Staff

    Florida SouthWestern State Head Softball Coach Robert Iamurri has completed his coaching staff for the 2019-20 season, adding former Georgia Southern standout AJ Hamilton and bringing back FSW All-American Marta Fuentes to join him in the dugout this year as assistant coaches.
  • Softball Senior Camp Cancelled Due to Hurricane Dorian

    Due to travel concerns for campers surrounding Hurricane Dorian's expected impact on Southwest Florida, Saturday's FSW Softball Senior Camp has been postponed.  Campers who were already registered for the camp, and/or had paid for the camp, will be contacted by the FSW coaching staff with information about refunds and/or rescheduling.

    When the calendar turns to August on Thursday, Florida SouthWestern State fans will have a new look athletics page to check out as FSWBucs.com has been getting a makeover this summer that will be revealed on August 1st.
