Bucs Ellis Named NJCAA National Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following a dominating week at the plate, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Natavia Ellis has been named the NJCAA National Player of the Week.

Opposing pitchers couldn't get Ellis out last week as the Bucs slugger hit .714 and reached base at a .765 clip in seven FSW contests. In her only at bat of the day against ASA on Tuesday, she tripled and drove home three. Two days later she was 4-5 with a double, a home run, and six RBIs in a Buccaneer sweep of Ave Maria.  She continued her big week over the weekend in the Courtney Miller Invitational in Sanford as she was retired just three times in four games, going 5-8 with seven RBIs as the Bucs swept through the tournament a perfect 4-0. She ended the week with 16 RBIs and nine runs scored, slugging 1.500 in the seven games.

On the 2020 campaign, Ellis is hitting .583 and slugging 1.222 with nine doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 29 RBIs in 16 games.

Ellis and the 3rd ranked Bucs are back in action on Friday when they host #2 Central Florida in a State Championship rematch from a season ago at 2 PM at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.
