Buc to Buc, Vieira Signs With Charleston Southern

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern freshman Luana Vieira will be trading in her Bucs Purple and Aqua for Bucs Blue and Gold next season after signing her National Letter of Intent to play for NCAA Division I Charleston Southern University.

Vieira played in nine matches for the National Champs as a rookie in 2023, averaging 1.30 kills and 1.40 digs per set while hitting .444 on the year.  She had the best match of her freshman campaign in a mid-October win over Santa Fe when she finished off five kills on nine swings and also contributed to the Bucs undefeated postseason run with three kills on six swings in a win over Spartanburg Methodist to punch the Bucs ticket back to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Vieira joins a Charleston Southern squad coming off of a 9-19 record in 2023 which included a 3-11 mark in Big South Conference play.

With Vieira inking with the Bucs, the FSW Volleyball program now has seven players from their 2023 roster signed to play at the NCAA Division I level, setting a new program record. She joins Roberta Purashaj (Oregon), Alondra Alarcon (UNLV), Izzy Collier (Marshall),  Anica Bobic (San Francisco), Victoria Zibecchi (Southern Utah), Giulia Bonifacio (Louisiana Tech), and Madu Fontes (Idaho).
