Dickey Inks With Cavs

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Katie Dickey is headed to the next level after signing with Montreat College in a signing ceremony Friday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

Dickey and the Bucs won back to back Suncoast Conference Championships during her tenure in Fort Myers and made their first two trips to the NJCAA National Tournament, finishing 8th in 2020 and 5th in 2021.  She played in 22 career games for the Purple and Aqua, finishing with 47 kills and 55 digs. She came up big in key matches for the Bucs during her career finishing off a career high 7 kills and hitting .500 against #1 Miami Dade and hitting a career best .625 in a sweep of #10 Trinity Valley in 2020.

She will join a Montreat squad who made a huge leap in 2021, going from a 3-19 team two seasons ago, to a competitive 12-18 this year. The Cavaliers qualified for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament with an 8-13 mark in conference play, falling to Point University in the opening round.

Dickey is the fifth signee for the Bucs this season and the 12th in the past two seasons, joining 2021 teammates Elissa Alcantara (Cincinnati), Maria Petkova (San Francisco), Riley Oglevie (Winthrop), and Yunju Lee (Chicago State).
