CHARLOTTE, N.C.- One day after becoming the first Buccaneer hitter to earn FCSAA Player of the Week honors this season, Florida SouthWestern slugger Carlos Sanchez one upped himself as he became the first Buc in the past three seasons to pick up NJCAA National Player of the Week honors.
Sanchez hit .667 for the Bucs in their three game sweep over Daytona State Thursday and Friday at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers. He finished 6 for 9 with two doubles, a triple, and 11 RBIs while also going a perfect 3 for 3 in stolen base attempts. In the series opener Thursday he picked up a pair of extra base hits with a double and a triple while driving in three to lead the Bucs to a 10-2 win over the Falcons. Friday he 4-5 with eight RBIs in FSW's doubleheader sweep of Daytona.
Sanchez is the first Buccaneer to earn NJCAA National Player of the Week since Derek Williams in March of 2023.
Sanchez and the Bucs are back in action on Thursday at home against Santa Fe in a 3 PM first pitch from Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
