FORT MYERS, Fla.- The #11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored six runs early and hung on late for a 6-4 win over the DII #24 Pasco Hernando State Bobcats Tuesday afternoon at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.

The Bucs got the scoring going in the 2nd when a sun aided double started the frame and they quickly took advantage as Nik Pereira slammed a ground rule double to left to put FSW in front 1-0.  One pitch later Carlos Sanchez singled up the middle to drive home Pereira to make it 2-0 and later in the inning a pair of controversial plays went the way of the Bucs to plate two more to give FSW a 4-0 lead after two.

FSW added to their lead in the 4th as Devin Parks laced a double down the left field line and scored on a successful double steal later in the inning to make it 5-0 Bucs. Brock Knoerr got in on the act with a single through the right side to drive home a run and pad the Bucs lead to 6-0 at the end of four.

Pasco wiped the zero off the board in the 5th as they took advantage of a one out walk and hit batter with a double down the right field line to cash both freebies in to trim the Bucs lead to 6-2.

Another Bucs walk turned into a run for the Bobcats in the 6th to make it 6-3 and a solo home run for Pasco in the 7th cut the Bucs lead to 6-4 at stretch time.

The Bucs put runners in scoring position in the 7th and 8th as they looked to get some insurance, but they couldn't push anything across and it remained a 6-4 game to the 9th.

The 9th didn't start as the Bucs planned as a leadoff walk and a one out infield single put the tying runs on with nobody out in the inning.  Bucs reliever Delvison Reyes settled down from there, getting a big strikeout followed up by a 6-4-3 double play ball to end it as FSW held on to beat the Bobcats 6-4.

Brock Knoerr led the offense with a two hit, two RBI game while Michael McAloose was 2-3 with a pair of runs scored. Nik Pereira also had two hits, both doubles, while scoring one run and driving in another.

Brett Dennis threw a pair of scoreless innings for the Bucs to start the contest while Nicholas Lorenz picked up the win out of the bullpen allowing one run on three hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.  Reyes earned his first career save with a scoreless 9th.

FSW improves to 18-5 with the victory while Pasco Hernando falls to 16-7.

The Bucs are back in action this weekend in a big three game series with rival State College of Florida.  Thursday the series will begin under the lights in Bradenton before shifting to Fort Myers for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
