Figueroa Inks With Panthers

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Baseball pipeline to the Steel City will continue next year as Bucs slugging first baseman Victor Figueroa has signed with the University of Pittsburgh.

Figueroa had a huge freshman season at the Division I level last year, hitting .397 with 10 doubles, 8 home runs, with 43 RBIs at Mississippi Valley State University.  He earned 1st Team All-Conference honors in the SWAC, finishing with 22 multi-hit games as a rookie. He had two four hit games as a freshman, both coming in the same week in contests against Alcorn State and Grambling.

Figueroa and teammate Isaac Upole will join a Pitt program in 2024-2025 that finished 24-31 last season and went 10-18 in ACC action.  They advanced to the conference tournament where they earned a win over Notre Dame before falling to College World Series participant Wake Forest in the second round.

Figueroa and Upole follow in the footsteps of 2019 and 2020 Bucs Mitch Myers and Marc Davis who both signed with the Panthers. Myers is currently pitching in the Oakland Athletics minor league system while Davis is with the Washington Nationals organization.

Figueroa is one of six Power 5 and 11 overall early signees for the Bucs this season joining Justin Thomas (Arkansas), Landon O'Donnell (Florida State), Jared Davis (Virginia Tech), Isaac Upole (Pittsburgh), Alex Walsh (Oklahoma State), Reyn Watson (Appalachian State), Nate Earley (Appalachian State), Logan O'Leary (UNC-Charlotte), Luca Danos (Loyola Marymount), and Jahir Perez (Southeastern).
