Serrano Headed Home To Wagner

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following an All-Conference season with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, outfielder Albert Serrano is headed home to New York after signing with the Seahawks of Wagner College earlier this week.

Serrano was the Bucs every day center fielder in 2023, playing in 50 games and hitting .246 with 10 doubles, 7 home runs, and 38 RBIs to earn 2nd Team All-Southern Conference honors.  He had nine multi-hit games on the season including three straight in mid-March, going 7-11 with four extra base hits and nine RBIs in FSW wins over Miami Dade, A3 Academy, and Eastern Florida State.  He didn't just get it done with his bat though as he patrolled gap to gap at the new Buccaneers Park with ease, making just one error in 90 chances on the season to earn Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

Wagner finished 32-24 in 2023 and went 21-9 in Northeast Conference action.  The Seahawks finished as both regular season and NEC Tournament runners-up after making a run to the Championship Series against Central Connecticut in late May.

Serrano is the eighth FSW sophomore to sign at the Division I level this season and the 10th overall to sign to move onto the four year level, joining AJ Shaver (Troy), Derek Williams (Wichita State), Tyler Kennedy (Texas State), Henry Hardie (High Point), Marty Gair & Lucas Hartman (Florida Gulf Coast), Colin Brodeur (Bryant), Kelan Hoover (Wingate), and Yariel Diaz (Middle Georgia State).
