Hoover Inks With Wingate

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern righthander Kelan Hoover is headed North to the Tar Heel State after signing his National Letter of Intent with Wingate University.

Hoover was a workhorse for the Bucs this season, starting 12 games and logging 61 innings, going 4-2 with a 6.34 ERA.  He struck out 52 on the year including a season high 6 in a dominating six inning performance against Indian River to close out the month of March for FSW.  He earned his first win for the Bucs on the road at Polk State when he went six solid innings, allowing just three hits and one run in a 12-1 FSW romp over the Eagles early in the season.

Wingate went 32-18 in 2023 and was 18-6 in South Atlantic Conference action, good for a second place finish.

Hoover is the seventh FSW sophomore to sign to move onto the four year level, joining AJ Shaver (Troy), Tyler Kennedy (Texas State), Marty Gair & Lucas Hartman (Florida Gulf Coast), Derek Williams (Wichita State), and Yariel Diaz (Middle Georgia State).
