From Buc to Bucco, Tyler Kennedy Drafted by Pirates
SEATTLE, Wash.- Florida SouthWestern righthander Tyler Kennedy has been selected in the 19th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, giving FSW three draftees, the most of any junior college program in the country this season.

Kennedy was a workhorse on the mound for the Bucs this season, starting a team high 13 games. He was 4-5 with a 4.99 ERA, striking out 59 opposing batters in 48 2/3 innings pitched.  Kennedy was electric down the stretch for the Bucs, putting together a run of six appearances from March 20th to April 28th, throwing 22 2/3 innings allowing just two earned runs (0.79 ERA) while striking out 31 and walking just seven.  His best outing of the year came in the final weekend of the regular season when he fired five no-hit innings against Southern Conference Champion Miami Dade, inching the Bucs closer to an eventual berth in the FCSAA State Tournament.

Kennedy is the third FSW player selected in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft joining Marty Gair (13th Rd- Phillies) and AJ Shaver (17th Rd- Phillies), giving the Bucs more draft picks than any other NJCAA program in the country.

FSW has now had 10 players drafted in the past three seasons as well as two players who have signed free agent deals with Big League clubs, giving them 12 pros if all three of their 2023 draftees sign. That would give the Bucs again, the most players in the professional ranks of any program in the country.
