Tyler Kennedy Earns FCSAA Pitcher of the Week Nod

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Firing six no-hit innings through a pair of appearances last week, Florida SouthWestern righthander Tyler Kennedy has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week in a state release on Tuesday.

Kennedy was lights out for the Bucs in two outings last week, beginning on Monday when he needed just seven pitches in a 1-2-3 relief frame against Inspiration Academy.  He backed that up with the best start of his career on Friday when he stepped up huge for the Bucs with five no-hit innings, striking out five in a key FSW victory over #20 Miami Dade on the road.

Kennedy has picked up some steam on the mound late in the season, allowing just two earned runs over his last five appearances, spanning 20 2/3 innings, striking out 26 and walking just seven during the stretch.

Kennedy was joined by teammate AJ Shaver on the pedestal this week as Shaver was named the FCSAA's Player of the Week for the third time this season on Tuesday.  Kennedy is the first FSW pitcher to earn Pitcher of the Week honors since Brian Holiday got the nod exactly one year ago to the day.

Kennedy and the Bucs have one more conference game remaining on Wednesday against Eastern Florida when he and his fellow sophomore classmates will be honored prior to the game as they play their final Southern Conference contest in the friendly confines of Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
