FORT MYERS, Fla.- The #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had a seven game winning streak snapped on Monday, falling 5-3 in a top 20 battle with the #19 Miami Dade Sharks at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.

The Bucs found themselves in a hole right away against the Sharks as Miami Dade began the game with three straight hits, including a run scoring single to take a quick 1-0 lead.

It remained a 1-0 game to the 5th when the Sharks built onto their lead after taking advantage of three FSW errors in the inning to score a pair of runs to make it a 3-0 ballgame.

The Bucs finally cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the 5th as Jose Izarra drove home a run with a groundout and Satchell Norman picked up a two out RBI single to draw FSW back to within one at 3-2.

Miami Dade quickly took the momentum back though as they mounted a two out rally against the Bucs bullpen to plate a run and cushion their lead back to 4-2.

A leadoff triple for the Sharks in the 7th ultimately netted them another tally, pushing their lead to 5-2 at stretch time.

Yadiel Santana drove home a run for the Bucs in the 8th to cut the Miami Dade lead to 5-3 and it looked like FSW would get at least one shot to tie it with two outs in the 9th, but they were inexplicably thrown out trying to turn a single into a double in the two run game, taking the bat out of the hands of one of their hottest hitters and ending the game with the Sharks hanging on for a 5-3 win.

The Bucs managed nine hits in the contest including two each from Norman, Kendry Noriega, and Kalvin AlexanderBrian Holiday took the loss on the mound, allowing a run on three hits in two innings in his first start of the season to fall to 5-1.  Frank Elissalt, the Bucs usual Monday starter, threw a pair of scoreless frames and struck out five out of the FSW bullpen in the defeat.

FSW sees their seven game win streak come to an end as they fall to 32-13 while Miami Dade wins their 14th straight to improve to 30-12.

The Bucs will be back in action at home on Wednesday when they host the ASA Miami Silver Storm in a 3 PM first pitch from City of Palms Park.
