Besser Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Starting off his 2022 season the same way he ended his 2021 campaign, Florida SouthWestern State lefty Grant Besser has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the state Tuesday morning.

Besser has been the Bucs top arm so far this season, leading the club with nine innings pitched and 14 strikeouts while allowing just five hits and not allowing an earned run thus far.  He has factored in the decision of all three games he has pitched this season, earning two wins and a save.  In his first outing of the year he went three shutout innings, striking out five to close out Gulf Coast and earn the save. Four days later, he was dialed in again, blowing through two innings against #8 Miami Dade, striking out five to earn his first win of the year. He earned his second win over a ranked team later in the week when he tossed four innings, yielding just three hits against #18 Florence-Darlington in the Bucs quarterfinal win over the Stingers at the Perfect Game Juco Classic.

Besser and the Bucs are a perfect 9-0 on the year and are coming off of a Championship in the Perfect Game Juco Classic.

FSW is back in action Wednesday with another Top 20 matchup with Miami Dade when they host the Sharks at 2 PM at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.
