Koester Signs With NAIA Power IUS
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State righthander Brendan Koester will be headed from one winning program to another next season after signing his National Letter of Intent to pitch at Indiana University Southeast in 2022. 
 
Koester was a key cog in the Bucs bullpen the past two seasons, throwing in 26 games and going 4-1 with three saves for the Suncoast Conference Champs.  He posted a 3.33 ERA during his FSW career, averaging nearly a strikeout per inning with 46 punchouts in 48 2/3 innings pitched. As a sophomore this season he was 3-0 with a save and notched a 4.13 ERA in 24 innings of work.  
 
He will join an IUS squad coming off of a 50 win season and a deep run in the NAIA World Series. The Grenadiers finished 50-16 overall and won both the River States Conference regular season and tournament Championships before making their first appearance in the World Series.  
 
Koester is the 13th Buc to sign at the next level this season, joining Carlos Rodriguez (Brewers), Alex Ayala (Rays), Abimelec Ortiz (Rangers),  Antonio Knowles (Florida/Dodgers), Luis Tuero (Arizona), Carter Cunningham (East Carolina), Mark Davis (South Florida/Nationals), Warnner Rincones (Louisiana-Lafayette), Robert Wegielnik (Florida Atlantic), Daniel Vos (Erskine), Daniel Maldonado (Cumberlands), and Matt Whitney (McPherson).
