FORT MYERS, Fla.- The #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dropped their first game at home in nearly three weeks Wednesday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, falling behind Polk State early and never recovering in a 10-5 defeat to snap a seven game winning streak.

Things didn't start well for FSW who walked a pair ahead of a two run double for Polk State in the top of the 1st to give the Eagles a quick 2-0 lead.

Polk added to their lead in the 3rd with a two out single to make it 3-0.

The Bucs had a chance to get back into the game in the bottom of the 3rd as they loaded the bases with just one out, but all they could get was a sacrifice fly to score one as they left a pair on at inning's end as Polk continued to lead it 3-1.

The Eagles opened it up to a 5-1 game in the 5th on a pair of solo home runs and made it 6-1 after a leadoff triple and an RBI single in the 6th.

FSW finally showed some offensive life in the bottom of the 6th as Abimelec Ortiz connected on a two run home run and Kendry Noriega followed it up with a solo shot of his own to make it a two run game at 6-4.

It didn't stay that way for long though as a pair of walks set the table for the Eagles in the 7th and a fielder's choice and a wild pitch netted Polk two runs to give the Eagles some breathing room once again at 8-4.

The Bucs went in order in the 7th and 8th and the Eagles added two more in the 9th to finish off a 10-5 win to salvage the series finale.

The Bucs were outhit 9-7 in the contest and for the first time in 43 games this season, did not record a stolen base. Ortiz was the lone Buc with multiple hits in the game, going 2-4 with his 6th inning homer. Carlos Rodriguez was saddled with just his second loss of the season, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and three runs to fall to 7-2 on the year.

FSW sees a seven game winning streak come to an end, dropping to 33-11 overall and 14-4 in Suncoast Conference play.  Polk State remains alive in the conference race with the win as they move to 27-16 overall and get back to within three games of FSW atop the conference standings at 11-7.

The Bucs are back in action on Friday when they make the trip to Tampa to take on Hillsborough in the first of a three game set.
