FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Baseball team earned it's second straight win Saturday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, using eight hits and 12 stolen bases to fly by the visiting Elev8 Academy in a 14-2 run rule to collect their 10th win of the 2021 season.

RBI singles from Noah Heisler and Daniel Maldonado and some spotty defense from Elev8 helped the Bucs put up a four spot in the bottom of the 1st to take an  early 4-0 lead.

Elev8 scored their first runs in three seasons against the Bucs in the top half of the 2nd, getting a two run home run to cut the FSW lead in half at 4-2.

FSW scored single runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th to stretch their lead to 7-2.

The Bucs blew it open in the 6th, using a pair of Elev8 errors to give them extra outs in the inning and they took advantage.  An RBI triple from Ronny Medina made it 10-2 and on the first pitch he saw as a pinch hitter, Matthew Corpas scalded a ball over the wall in left for a two run shot to make it 12-2.  A bases loaded walk to Simon Baumer and an infield RBI single from Kendry Noriega made it 14-2 and the Bucs bullpen did the rest to finish out the run rule victory after seven.

The Bucs needed just eight hits on the afternoon to score their 14 runs, taking advantage of 11 walks and six Elev8 errors, while swiping 12 bases in the victory.  Seven different players had hits for FSW  with Luis Tuero the only player to have multiple hits, going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Corpas, Heisler, and Maldonado each drove home two.  Alex Ayala earned the win on the mound to improve to 1-2, going three innings and allowing three hits and two runs while striking out six.  Marc Davis threw 1 2/3 scoreless with four strikeouts and Matt Whitney and Erick Figueroa each threw scoreless frames for the Bucs.

FSW improves to 10-6 on the  year with their second straight win.

The Bucs will be back in action at home on Monday when they host Ave Maria in a contest scheduled for a 2 PM first pitch from City of Palms Park.
