FORT MYERS, Fla.- Wednesday will definitely not be a day that the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will want to remember for long.  The Bucs pitching staff walked a dubious program record 18 and hit three more Miami Dade hitters in a 16-5 loss to the Sharks.

Miami Dade scored first, in the most conventional runs that were scored on the afternoon as they got a two run home run from Henry Wallen in the top of the 3rd to take an early 2-0 advantage.

An FSW error allowed the Sharks to extend their lead in the 4th and they scored four more times in the 5th on just one hit as Bucs pitching walked three runs to make it a 7-0 game.

The Bucs offense gave them a spark in the bottom of the 5th as Ronny Medina lifted a sacrifice fly to get them on the board and an RBI double from Carter Cunningham made it a 7-3 game.

Unfortunately for the Bucs, the strike zone again eluded them in the 6th as for the second straight inning, the Sharks scored four times on a single hit to extend their lead to 11-3 after 5 1/2.

The Sharks continued to add on in the 7th, scoring two unearned runs after the Bucs third error of the afternoon to make it 13-3.

The highlight of the day for the Bucs came in the 8th when Abimelec Ortiz crushed a pitch out to right for a two run home run to make it 13-5.

Miami Dade packed on three more in the 9th and the Bucs didn't score, ending a forgettable from for FSW in a 16-5 Shark victory.

Simon Baumer and Axel Melendez each had two hits and a run scored for the Bucs.  The Bucs pitching staff issued 21 free passes with 18 walks and three hit batters. Enrique Cotto was the only FSW pitcher to not allow two or more runs in the defeat. Ronaldo Fernandez suffered the loss for the Bucs, allowing two hits and two runs while walking four in 2 1/3 innings of work to start the game.

FSW loses it's fifth straight, all to top 15 ranked teams, falling to 8-6 overall on the season. Miami Dade snaps a four game skid, pushing back over .500 on the year at 7-6.

The Bucs are back in action on Friday when they travel across the state to take on Indian River in non-conference action in what is scheduled for a 1 PM first pitch.
