Four Bucs Named Perfect Game Top 100 Prospects

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers talent was on full display on opening weekend in the Marissa Gusto Memorial Tournament and scouts across the country took notice.  In their release of the Top 100 Juco Prospects, Perfect Game named four Bucs to their list and FSW was one of just five teams nationally that had two Top 20 prospects in righthanders Carlos Rodriguez and Marc Davis

The week one FCSAA Pitcher of the Week, Carlos Rodriguez was the Bucs highest rated player on the board, checking in at #13 on the list.  With a blazing fastball that has been up to as high as 97 miles per hour, Rodriguez did not disappoint in his first start with the Bucs, going four innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine against the 4th ranked team in the country in Northwest Florida State.

Right behind Rodriguez was fellow righthander Marc Davis who once again finds himself high up on a prospect list. Davis, a 38th round pick of the Chicago Cubs in 2019, was electric in his first start of the season on Sunday, topping out at 95 on the radar gun while striking out five in four innings of work to earn a win in his 2021 debut.

Bucs freshman lefty Alex Ayala was ranked just outside the Top 50 at #56.  Ayala made his collegiate debut last weekend and while the results weren't exactly what he was looking for, the stuff was there.  In front of a host of scouts, Ayala was up to 93 on the gun and showed a swing and miss slider against one of the Nation's best offenses.

The lone FSW position player on the list was middle infielder Luis Tuero who was came in at #65.  Tuero transferred to FSW this season after spending his first two years at the University of Miami where he was a career .330 hitter for the Hurricanes. He will be headed West next season, having signed at the Unviersity of Arizona this Fall.

The state of Florida was well represented as 23 of the Top 100 were from the Sunshine State along with the four Bucs.  FSW was one of just eight teams to have four or more players in the Top 100 and was one of just five to have two players in the Top 20.
