Rodriguez's Dazzling Debut Earns Him FCSAA Pitcher of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern freshman Carlos Rodriguez made his highly anticipated collegiate debut Friday night under the lights at Terry Park and didn't disappoint.  The righthanders dominant work against 4th ranked Northwest Florida State was enough to earn him FCSAA Pitcher of the Week for week one.

In front of dozens of Major League Baseball scouts in attendance to watch him in his first start, Rodriguez was electric, controlling the high powered bats of #4 Northwest Florida State over four shutout innings.  Of his 64 pitches on the night, 48 were in the strike zone as he punched out nine Raider hitters and allowed just two hits in the contest.

Rodriguez is the first FSW pitcher to earn FCSAA Pitcher of the Week honors since Mitch Myers in April of 2019.

Rodriguez and the Bucs will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel across Alligator Alley for a 2 PM matchup with Miami Dade.  FSW returns home this weekend when they host ASA Miami Friday and Saturday at City of Palms Park for a three game set.
