GREENWOOD, Ind.- After being showered with awards for her performance on the court during the 2024 season, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Julija Grubisic Cabo was honored for her work in the classroom on Tuesday as she was one of just 13 student-athletes across all sports Nationwide to be named a 2025 CSC 1st Team Academic All-American.
Grubisic Cabo led the Bucs to their third straight NJCAA National Championship this season averaging 3.43 kills and 2.58 digs per set for the Purple and Aqua. She earned every major award possible during her sophomore campaign including 1st Team All-Citrus Conference, 1st Team All-FCSAA, 1st Team NJCAA All-American, 1st Team AVCA All-American, Citrus Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA Player of the Year, FCSAA Female Athlete of the Year, NJCAA National Player of the Year, FCSAA Championship Most Valuable Player, and NJCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player. She had 20 matches with 10 or more kills this season and hit .351 which was 43 points higher than any other outside in the NJCAA Division I ranks this season.
In the classroom the Psychology major graduated in May from FSW with a 3.66 cumulative GPA and an Associate of Arts degree. She was named to both the NJCAA All-Academic Team and was an FCSAA Academic All-State pick this year.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
Grubisic Cabo was chosen as one of just 13 1st Team Academic All-Americans Nationwide across all two-year sports. Also earning the honors was FSW Softball player Skylar Brennan, making the Bucs one of just three schools in the country to have multiple players chosen to the team.
She joins an exclusive club that includes former CSC Academic All-Americans such as Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes, Caitlin Clark, Buster Posey, Candace Parker, Katie Ledecky, and Drew Brees.
Grubisic Cabo is just the fourth player in FSW Volleyball history to earn the award, joining fellow All-Americans Barbara Koehler, Julia Lawrenz, and Fiona Baker.
