CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to their third straight NJCAA National Championship, sophomores Julija Grubisic Cabo and Abby Toeniskoetter have been named 1st Team NJCAA All-Americans, the second straight year that two Bucs have earned the honor.
Grubisic Cabo continues to add to her already full trophy case, adding 1st Team NJCAA All-American honors to a haul that already includes Citrus Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA State Tournament Most Valuable Player, and NJCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player. She finished the season averaging 3.43 kills per set for the Bucs and was the model of consistency, recording 8 or more kills in 24 of 26 games played this season including three straight double figure kill matches to help the Bucs seal the deal for their third straight title. She hit .351 on the year, a new FSW program record for a pin hitter, while the mark was 43 points higher than any other outside hitter in the NJCAA Division I ranks this season. A six rotation star for the Bucs, Grubisic Cabo also led FSW with 2.58 digs per set and nearly a half a block and a half an ace per set while passing at a 95.8% clip.
Toeniskoetter had one of the most statistically dominate seasons a middle has ever had in the NJCAA Division I ranks, leading the country in both blocks per set with 1.50 as well as hitting percentage at .465. Toeniskoetter averaged 2.65 kills per set this season, the second most in a season by a middle in FSW history. Toeniskoetter hit above .300 in 24 of 26 matches this season including all seven postseason games. She had a pair of double digit kill efforts at the National Tournament, going for 12 kills and 10 blocks in the Bucs quarterfinal win over Utah State Eastern and 13 kills on 18 swings in FSW's Championship Game win over Miami Dade. She finishes her FSW career with a school record .474 hitting percentage and 1.40 blocks per set.
It marks the second straight season and third time overall the Bucs have had two 1st Team All-Americans, joining Roberta Purashaj & Alondra Alarcon in 2023 and Maria Petkova and Deborah Ribeiro in 2021. It is fifth straight season that FSW has had multiple All-Americans.
