CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- For the third straight season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will head to the NJCAA National Tournament as the #1 seed, as announced during the NJCAA Selection Show on Wednesday.
The Bucs earned the #1 seed for next week's tournament and will match up in the #16 seed and Cinderella Eastern Wyoming Lancers who are making their first trip to the National Tournament in nearly 30 years. The Bucs and Lancers will take the floor Wednesday, November 20th at 4 PM (CT) in the first round with a trip to Thursday's quarterfinals on the line. Joining the Bucs and Lancers in their quadrant is 8th seeded Utah State-Eastern and 9th seeded Weatherford who will also play at 4 PM (CT) on Wednesday.
FSW enters the tournament with a 22-1 record and with Citrus Conference, FCSAA State, and NJCAA Atlantic District Championships in tow. The Bucs path to their 22-1 record hasn't been an easy one by any stretch of the imagination as the Massey Ratings ranks their schedule as the third toughest in the country this season with FSW claiming 14 wins over ranked opponents during the campaign.
The other top seeds behind the Bucs were Miami Dade, New Mexico Military and Blinn with Northeastern, Barton, led by former FSW Assistant Coach Megan Besecker, Odessa, and Utah State-Eastern rounding out the top eight.
The Bucs will head to Tennessee on Monday with their official team practice and red carpet banquet scheduled for Tuesday before play begins on Wednesday.
Bucs fans will be able to follow the tournament a number of different ways next week as the FSW Foundation will once again host Watch Parties at Buckett's on game day, if you can't make it there, you can watch from the comfort of home, or on the go by purchasing the NJCAA Network Tournament Pass, and you can also follow on the Bucs social media pages at @FSWBucs.
