CHARLOTTE, N.C.- On the heels of a 3-0 sweep of Citrus Conference rival Miami Dade, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are back on top of the NJCAA National Rankings in the week nine poll.
The 19-1 Bucs take back over on top from the Sharks after a 2-0 week to close out the regular season that included a 3-0 home sweep of previously top ranked Miami Dade and a dominating effort over Polk State on Saturday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena. With the win over the Sharks, FSW now has 13 wins over Top 20 ranked opponents including victories over #2 Miami Dade, #3 New Mexico Military, #4 Northeastern, #5 Utah State Eastern.
This week's shakeup happened at the bottom of the poll where Indian Hills and Western Nebraska slid up a couple of spots while Mineral Area and Eastern Florida moved down, creating a hole for Santa Fe to move into the Top 20 at #17 for the first time after wins over Hillsborough, Eastern Florida, and Daytona State the past two weeks.
With the regular season now in their rearview, the Bucs turn their attention to the postseason where they will open the FCSAA State Tournament on Friday at 4:00 at home in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in the tournament semifinals.
