Boledovicova Blocks Way to FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week Award

TALLAHSSSEE, Fla.- In the middle of a brick wall at the net for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers this week, sophomore Nina Boledovicova has earned FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season and second time in her Buccaneer career.

Boledovicova averaged 2.0 blocks per set in three FSW wins over Top 20 ranked opponents last week. Friday, she recorded a career high 10 blocks in a 3-1 FSW win over #12 New Mexico Military and followed that up with 3 more blocks in a 3-0 Bucs sweep over #3 Northeastern. She capped the Bucs trip to the Cowboy State with a 7 block effort, including two solo stuffs in a sweep of #16 Casper.

Boledovicova currently ranks second in the Citrus Conference and fourth Nationally averaging 1.38 blocks per set on the season. With her 20 blocks this week, she pushes well over 100 in her Buccaneer career which moves her into 7th place on the Bucs all-time blocks list.

Boledovicova was joined on this week's award winners list by Camilla Brandalise who was named the FCSAA Setter of the Week for the second straight week this week.

Boledovicova and the Bucs are back in action Wednesday in exhibition play against New College of Florida in Bradenton before a seven day rest gets them set for the start of Citrus Conference play next Wednesday when they travel to Tampa to take on Hillsborough.
