TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After leading her Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers to a Battle at the Beach Championship on opening weekend, Bucs setter Camilla Brandalise has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week for the first time in her career as announced by the state office on Tuesday.
Brandalise averaged 8.75 assists per set in four FSW wins on opening weekend. The sophomore helped lead the charge for the Bucs in victories over #4 Salt Lake, #5 Trinity Valley, and #11 Utah State-Eastern. She opened the weekend with a career high 36 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Missouri State-West Plains and backed that up with a dominating effort against 4th ranked Salt Lake, filling up the stat sheet with 22 assists, 3 blocks, 3 kills, and 2 aces. Saturday she had two more 20+ assist contests, putting up 20 in a sweep of #11 Utah State-Eastern and 27 later in the afternoon against #5 Trinity Valley to clinch the Tournament Championship. After the tournament she was named as a member of the All-Tournament Team.
Brandalise shared the Player of the Week podium this week with teammate Julija Grubisic Cabo who was named the FCSAA Offensive Player of the Week.
Brandalise and the Bucs are back in action this weekend at the Spring Hill Suites Cheyenne Invitational where they again have a trio of Nationally Ranked opponents on the schedule as they take on #12 New Mexico Military, #3 Northeastern, and #16 Casper before rounding out the weekend with the host Golden Eagles of Laramie County.
