Bobic Headed to West Coast to Play For Dons

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Volleyball program has it's first repeat customer, as after sending 2021 All-American Maria Petkova across the country to the University of San Francisco to play the last two seasons, the Dons have come knocking again, this time for sophomore outside hitter Anica Bobic who will head to the Golden State after signing to play at USF next season.

Bobic was off to a big start to her 2023 season before an injury forced her to the sideline midway through.  Through 18 games she and the Bucs had a perfect 18-0 record while Bobic averaged 2.66 kills per set and led the FCSAA in aces with 0.68 per set. She got off to a quick start with 31 kills in her first three matches of the season while also recording her first career double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Central Wyoming on opening weekend.  Her most dominating effort of the season though came in the Battle at the Beach Championship game against #7 Trinity Valley when she recorded a career high 13 kills and hit .400 while also notching eight digs and three blocks on the defensive end in a 3-0 sweep for the Bucs.

In her two seasons in Fort Myers Bobic helped lead FSW to a 58-2 overall record, a pair of Conference Championships, two FCSAA State Championships, and back to back NJCAA National Championships.

She will join a San Francisco squad looking to bounce back after a 10-18 campaign in 2023. The Dons finished 4-12 in WCC action which was 6th best in one of the top Volleyball leagues in the country.  With USF, she will join forces with 2021 FSW All-American Maria Petkova who has starred for the Dons the past two seasons. Petkova has been one of USF's most consistent performers, playing in 49 matches the past two years and averaging 2.66 kills and 1.94 digs per set, leading the Dons to 24 wins after USF went winless the year before her arrival.

The entire 2024 FSW sophomore class has now inked with NCAA Division I programs including Bobic to San Francisco, Roberta Purashaj (Oregon), Alondra Alarcon (UNLV), Izzy Collier (Marshall), Giulia Bonifacio (Louisiana Tech), Victoria Zibecchi (Southern Utah), and Madu Fontes (Idaho).
