Alarcon Named FCSAA Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Following a pair of huge performances in key conference wins, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Alondra Alarcon has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the state office on Tuesday.

Alarcon had a historic week for the Bucs on a number of fronts, becoming the first FSW player in program history with back to back 20 kill games, becoming the first Buccaneer with a 20 kill/20 dig game, and also pushing past the 500 career kill mark, making her one of just four players in program history to do that.  Wednesday, Alarcon helped will the Bucs to a thrilling 3-2 road win over #14 Polk State, banging home a career high 24 kills and pulling up 22 digs in the first 20/20 game in FSW history.  Saturday she was back at it again, leading the Bucs past #17 Eastern Florida on the Titans home floor, filling up the stat sheet with 20 kills, 11 digs, and a career high 6 blocks in a 3-1 FSW win.  On the week Alarcon averaged 4.9 kills and 3.7 digs per set while also chipping in 0.8 blocks per set.

Alarcon currently ranks third in the FCSAA in kills per set with 4.12 and her .329 hitting percentage is best of any outside hitter in the state. It hasn't been all offense for the sophomore though as Alarcon's 3.06 digs per set lead all non-liberos in the state of Florida.

FSW fans will have two chances to see Alarcon and the Bucs at home this week as the Purple and Aqua take on Santa Fe in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Wednesday at 6 PM before entertaining #6 Miami Dade in a 2022 National Championship game rematch Saturday at 2 PM.
