Bucs Amin Signs With UTEP

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Tuesday, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Yasso Amin signed her National Letter of Intent to make the move from Southwest Florida, to just the Southwest period, inking with the UTEP Miners where she will finish her collegiate career.

Amin, the 2021 Suncoast Conference Player of the Year, averaged 3.04 kills per set while hitting .408 offensively for the Bucs during the regular season while also coming up big on the defensive end with 1.25 blocks per set for FSW.  Her .408 hitting percentage is the best in the state of Florida and ranks third nationally as the Bucs prepare for the 2021 postseason.  She has recorded 10 or more kills in 12 of FSW's 20 matches this season while hitting .400 or better in 12 matches as well. Also a force at the service line, her 48 aces on the season are second most in the state and third most nationally.

Amin has helped lead the FSW program to a number of firsts this season including their first NJCAA National Ranking, their first NJCAA Top 10 National Ranking, and their first Suncoast Conference Championship.  FSW is 16-4 on the year heading into the postseason and ranked 6th in the latest National Rankings.

She will join a UTEP program that is 7-6 overall and 6-4 in Conference USA action this season.  The Miners have two more regular season matches remaining before preparing for the Conference USA Tournament April 1-3 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Amin and the Bucs will be back in action on Thursday when they begin the FCSAA State Tournament with a matchup against conference rival Hillsborough at 7 PM in Jacksonville.

Amin is one of five Division I signees for the Bucs this season and six overall four year signees, joining Julia De Sa (James Madison), Kianie Cummings (East Carolina), Viktoriya Ivanova (Gonzaga), Amanda Mendes (Arkansas-Pine Bluff), and Giovanna Bello (Park).
