Bucs Slip Four Spots In National Poll After Streak Snapped

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers first loss in over two months cost them four spots in the week nine NJCAA National Rankings as FSW slid down to #17 as announced by the National Office on Monday.

The Bucs were out of sync all afternoon in their lone game last week, falling behind early and never recovering in a 77-51 loss to Miami Dade to bring their 13 game winning streak to an end.

Despite the loss, FSW remains in the driver's seat in the Citrus Conference standings with a 9-1 league mark while holding a 15-4 overall record this season.

The top of the week nine rankings saw a shift as New Mexico took over as the #1 team in the land while Chipola jetted up four spots to #2 after their win over previous #1 and now #3 Northwest Florida. Three Rivers, Dodge City, and Hutchinson all stepped down a rung to make room for Chipola to move up after the Indians big win.

The Bucs are one of five Florida squads in the Top 25 with Chipola and Northwest Florida at #2 and #3, Gulf Coast State at #8, FSW at #17, and Eastern Florida at #21.

The Bucs are back in action this week with a pair of home games, first a Wednesday date at 5 PM with the Santa Fe Saints in a makeup of last week's rare Florida weather postponement and then Saturday in the front end of a Women's & Men's doubleheader against Daytona in a 2 PM tip.
