Unbeaten Bucs Remain #1 In National Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Earning two wins over the defending National Champs and two more in Citrus Conference action, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained the #1 team in the land on Monday, holding the top spot in the NJCAA National Rankings for the second straight week with a perfect 24-0 record on the year.

The Bucs opened their action last week with a statement, going on the road and defeating 3rd ranked and defending National Champions, Indian River, 2-1 and 13-5 in a doubleheader to remain unbeaten on the year.  They returned home for a doubleheader against the Santa Fe Saints and used a late game comeback in game one to win 3-2 before blanking the Saints 3-0 in game two to complete the sweep and move to 24-0 on the year.

The top five in the rankings remained the same in week three with the lone change McLennan jumping Indian River to #3. Other FCSAA squads in the poll included Northwest Florida at #2, Miami Dade at #6, Seminole State at #9, Daytona State at #11, Eastern Florida at #18, Central Florida at #22, and Gulf Coast at #25.

The Bucs have another marquee matchup on the schedule Tuesday as they square off with #6 Miami Dade in a 2 PM doubleheader at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
