Chevrier & McCray Named NFCA All-Americans

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- After wrapping up their prestigious two year careers with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers last week at the NJCAA World Series in Oxford, Alabama, FSW sophomores Lea Chevrier and Sydney McCray have been named All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Chevrier was a 1st Team All-American pick as an at large selection, marking the eighth consecutive season the Bucs have had an NFCA 1st Team All-American. She went 25-1 in the circle for the Bucs this season, ranking 6th in the country in wins with 25 while leading the NJCAA Division I ranks with a .962 winning percentage.  She logged a team high 155 2/3 innings over 37 appearances, racking up 148 strikeouts and posting a 1.80 ERA which ranked in the top 10 of Division I pitchers to throw at least 100 innings on the year.  Chevrier was lights out at the NJCAA World Series for the Bucs, going 2-0 and throwing 14 innings without allowing an earned run in three trips to the circle. Next season she will play at Miami University in Ohio.

McCray earns 2nd Team All-American honors for the Bucs. She hit .347 and reached base at a .500 clip for the Bucs at the top of the order this season, playing in all 67 games in center field.  She scored 80 runs on the year which tied an FSW single season record while going 51-53 in stolen base attempts which is 9th best in a season in program history.  She was one of just two players in the country this year to score more than 80 runs and steal more than 50 bases.  McCray will remain in purple next season but will swap accent colors as she goes to play at Grand Canyon University.

The Bucs have now had multiple NFCA All-Americans in eight straight seasons.
