Ames Tabbed State's Top Pitcher In Week 13

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After hurling 11 scoreless innings in a pair of FSW wins last week, righthander Esmee Ames has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the state on Tuesday.

Ames was 2-0 last week, collecting wins over Hillsborough and Eastern Florida in Citrus Conference action. On Tuesday against Hillsborough, she fired 4 2/3 scoreless frames, allowing just three hits while striking out four as the Bucs rolled over the Hawks 10-2 in a five inning run rule. She backed that up with another solid performance on Saturday, going 6 1/3 shutout innings, striking out six as the Bucs finished off a sweep of Eastern Florida by the score of 6-5.

On the season Ames is 18-4 with a 1.29 ERA which is tops in the FCSAA while racking up 119 strikeouts in 108 innings pitched.

Ames was on the Player of the Week podium this week with teammate Sydney McCray who was named the FCSAA Player of the Week.

Ames and the Bucs are back in action today in a huge Citrus Conference matchup in Fort Pierce as they take on Indian River in a battle of two of the top four teams in the NJCAA Division I ranks.
