Bucs All-American Tucker Headed to Lamar

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern speedster Shenita Tucker will be staying close to home for the next two years of her collegiate Softball career as the two time All-American and National Champion has signed with Lamar University.

Tucker was one of the top table setters in the county the past two seasons for the Bucs, hitting .412 with 121 runs scored in 117 games for FSW.  As a freshman she hit .416 with 66 stolen bases in 68 chances, racking up 72 hits and 62 runs scored in 58 contests to earn NJCAA All-American honors.  She was electric during the Bucs run to the National Championship, notching 10 hits and racking up 9 stolen bases to earn All-Tournament Team accolades. It was more of the same this season as a sophomore as she hit .409 and reached base at a .460 clip while swiping 53 bases and scoring 59 runs in 59 games.  She was named an NFCA All-American for her efforts and again was key for FSW in the postseason where she had hits in all eight games during the Bucs run to FCSAA State and NJCAA National Championships and was named the FCSAA State Tournament Most Valuable Player for FSW.

She closes her FSW career in the top 10 all-time in hits (148), runs (121), and batting average (.412) while her 119 stolen bases are second most of any Buc all-time.

In her two seasons at FSW, Tucker helped lead the Bucs to a 110-11 overall record, a pair of Conference Championships with a 32-2 record, an FCSAA State Championship, and back to back NJCAA National Championships.

Tucker makes the short trip to Beaumont to join the Cardinals after Lamar went just 22-34 overall, but a respectable 12-12 in Southland Conference action where they reached the tournament semifinals since 2016.

Tucker becomes the fifth FSW sophomore to sign at the Division I level and seventh overall to sign at the four year level off of their 2023 National Championship squad, joining Belle Sardja (South Florida), Laura Vigna (Mercer), Kylee Graham (Toledo), Carys Platt (Louisiana-Monroe), Camille Graham (Embry-Riddle), and Caroline Figueroa (Barry).
