FORT MYERS, Fla.- After winning a pair of NJCAA National Championships at the NJCAA level, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Carys Platt is set to take her winning ways to the Bayou as the Bucs infielder has signed at the University of Louisiana Monroe to play for the Warhawks next season.
Platt wrapped up a fantastic career with the Bucs this spring, culminating in FSW's third consecutive NJCAA National Championship. She played in 114 games over the past two years for the Bucs, earning All-Conference honors in both seasons. She wrapped up her FSW career as a .395 hitter with 93 runs scored and 60 stolen bases in 65 chances. Equally as accomplished in the classroom, Platt was a CSC Academic All-District selection this year as a sophomore and was a two-time member of the NJCAA, FCSAA, and Southern Conference All-Academic Teams.
This season as a sophomore Platt hit an even .400, reaching base at a .477 clip, notching 64 hits and 50 runs scored in 59 games played. She had 19 multi-hit games this season for the National Champs including stringing together two different streaks of four straight multi-hit contests. She came up big when the Bucs needed her most in the postseason, going a perfect 3-3 in FSW's FCSAA State Championship Game victory against Northwest Florida and followed that up with a 4-4 effort in the Bucs opening round win over Gaston at the NJCAA National Tournament.
Platt will join a ULM squad coming off of a 25-32 campaign in 2023. The Warhawks earned an opening round win at the Sun Belt Conference Championship over Georgia State before seeing their season come to a close against top seeded Louisiana Lafayette. Platt, who helped lead the Bucs to a 110-11 mark the past two seasons will look to help bring her winning ways to the Bayou where ULM is looking for their first winning season since the 2017 campaign.
Platt becomes the fifth FSW sophomore to sign at the Division I level and seventh overall to sign at the four year level off of their 2023 National Championship squad, joining Belle Sardja (South Florida), Laura Vigna (Mercer), Kylee Graham (Toledo), Shenita Tucker (Lamar), Camille Graham (Embry-Riddle), and Caroline Figueroa (Barry).
