TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Feline Poot added to her already stuffed trophy case this week as the Bucs slugger was named the FCSAA Player of the Week for the third time in her career.
Poot remained red hot in three FSW wins, hitting .750 and slugging 1.750, clubbing two doubles, two home runs, and driving in nine. Monday, Poot helped the Bucs lock up their seventh straight Conference Championship, going 2-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a win over Miami Dade to close out Southern Conference play. Friday she was a perfect 4-4 in a doubleheader against South Florida State, hitting doubles in each game while also adding a walk off grand slam in the Bucs game one win, the 50th of her FSW career.
Poot is in the midst of another incredible year for the Bucs, closing the regular season with a .392 average, 13 home runs and 46 RBIs, the latter two pacing the FSW order. She has heated up as the weather has, recording hits in 12 of 13 April games while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 27 in the month.
Poot was joined by Belle Sardja on the weekly awards list as the Bucs ace was also named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week.
Poot and the Bucs begin their quest for their first State Championship since 2018 on Friday when they take on Pensacola State in the opening round in Clermont in a 10 PM first pitch.
