TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second time this season and third time in her career, Florida SouthWestern ace Belle Sardja has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week as released by the state on Tuesday.
Sardja was locked in for the final week of the regular season, going 2-0 in 11 2/3 scoreless innings of work. Monday, she helped the Bucs clinch their seventh straight Conference Championship, throwing a three hit shutout with five strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Miami Dade. She backed that up with 4 2/3 shutout innings against South Florida State in her regular season finale, earning her 20th win of the season in the process.
Sardja finished the regular season 20-2 with five saves, posting a microscopic 0.83 ERA in 143 2/3 innings pitched on the year.
Sardja wasn't the only Buc honored this week as teammate Feline Poot was named the FCSAA Player of the Week for her efforts in three FSW ballgames.
Sardja and the Bucs begin postseason play on Friday in Clermont at the FCSAA State Tournament when they take on the Pensacola Pirates in the tournament's first round.
