TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the first time in her young Florida SouthWestern State career, D'Yani McKinley has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as announced by the state on Tuesday.
McKinley hit .727 in six games for the Bucs last week, recording a hit in each of FSW's final five contests. In game two of a doubleheader against Polk State on Tuesday she was officially 1-1 and scored a pair of runs in an 8-0 FSW win. In the Bucs twinbill against St. Johns River on Friday she was 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs as FSW outscored the Vikings 24-0 in a pair of run rule victories. Saturday she was at it again, going 4-5 in a pair of wins over Daytona State including her second career three hit game against the Falcons in game two of the doubleheader.
McKinley is the first Buc to win a Player of the Week award this season.
FSW fans will have plenty of chances to see McKinley and the Bucs at home this week as the Purple and Aqua has six contests at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers starting today as they host #9 Central Florida for a pair beginning at 2 PM.
