FORT MYERS, Fla.- Belle Sardja and Lea Chevrier both worked complete game shutouts as the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers blanked the Polk State Eagles 6-0 and 8-0 in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.

The top half of the 1st inning was a sign of things to come the rest of the day Tuesday as FSW starter Belle Sardja struck out the side against the Eagles and the Bucs got a run thanks in part to a Polk error in the bottom half to give FSW an early 1-0 lead.

The Bucs added to their lead in the 2nd when Giulia Bancora singled through the right side to drive home Sietske Drijvers to make it 2-0 FSW at the end of two.

FSW doubled their lead in the 3rd as a misplayed fly ball by the Eagles allowed their third run of the game to cross the plate and later in the inning Caroline Figueroa singled the other way to make it 4-0 Bucs.

Sardja continued her dominance in the 4th, striking out a pair and punched out two more in the 5th as  the Bucs continued to lead it 4-0.

Jaden Goodwin ripped a pinch hit, two run double in the 6th to make it 6-0 and Sardja made that stand up as she worked around a Bucs error in the 7th to complete her shutout as the Bucs took the opener 6-0 over their former Suncoast Conference mates.

Sardja went the distance, scattering five hits while striking out seven to improve to 6-1 on the year.  She threw 66 of 88 pitches for strikes in the contest, lowering her season ERA to 0.43. Bancora picked up two hits and an RBI in the win while Carys Platt scored a pair of runs for the Bucs.

Game two began just about like game one did as Lea Chevrier struck out a pair for the Bucs in the top half of the 1st and was immediately given a lead as Vigna drove in a run with a groundout to give FSW an early 1-0 advantage.

Polk had their best scoring chance of the day in the 3rd as they put two on with nobody out, but a groundout and two more Chevrier strikeouts ended the threat and kept the Bucs in front 1-0.

Maddy Golka singled with one out in the 3rd and stole second one batter later before Platt singled through the right side to double the Bucs lead to 2-0.

Polk continued to struggle in the outfield in the 5th, dropping three fly balls leading to four FSW runs to make it a 6-0 game in favor of the Bucs at the end of five innings of action.

Chevrier worked a quick 1-2-3 top of the 6th in the circle for the Bucs and the FSW offense put the game to bed in the bottom half of the frame as Shenita Tucker and D'Yani McKinley singled to start the inning and an RBI triple from Gabby Martin and a two out pinch hit single from Samantha Smith scored her to kick in the run rule as the Bucs took game two 8-0.

Chevrier threw her first career shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out four to improve to 5-2 on the year. Eight different FSW hitters had hits and six different Bucs had RBIs while McKinley, Golka, and Sydney McCray each scored twice in the win.

The Bucs have now won eight straight to improve to 19-3 on the year while Polk drops back to .500 at 9-9.

The Bucs will head Northeast over the weekend as they take on St. Johns River in a doubleheader on Friday in Palatka before continuing on to Daytona State on Saturday where they will play two against the Falcons.
