Two Time All-American Poot Signs With Sharks

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern two time NJCAA All-American Feline Poot has found her home for the final two years of her athletic and academic career as the Buccaneers National Championship shortstop will stay in South Florida after signing with NCAA Division II power Nova Southeastern University.

The most accomplished player in program history, Poot shattered the FSW all-time records with 34 doubles, 37 home runs, and 165 RBIs during her Buccaneer career.  She was twice named the Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and was an NJCAA All-American in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She led FSW to back to back NJCAA National Championships the past two seasons and was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the 2022 tournament.  She closed her FSW career with a .421/.466/.813 slash line and a 1.279 career OPS while also going 45-49 in career stolen base attempts.  In her three seasons at FSW, Poot led the Buccaneers to a 128-12 overall record and a perfect 39-0 mark in Suncoast Conference play. 

She joins a Nova program coming off of a 38-14 campaign which included a trip to the NCAA Division II South Regional in Montgomery, Alabama.  The Sharks were 23-7 in Sunshine State Conference competition, earning their first SSC conference championship in program history. 

Poot is the seventh Buc to sign at the four year level this season joining Baylee Haggard & McKenzie Wittenberg (Florida Gulf Coast), Taylor Jensen (UTSA), Charlotte Drijvers (Barry), Ava Worthy (Anderson), and Sterre den Duijn (Lincoln Memorial).
