National Champs Have Four Named NJCAA All-Americans
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the fifth consecutive season, four Florida SouthWestern State Softball players were honored as NJCAA All-Americans on Tuesday as Baylee Haggard (First Team), Feline Poot (Second Team), Shenita Tucker (Third Team), and Laura Vigna (Third Team) were all named to the Nation's most prestigious squad.  
 
Death, taxes, and a First Team All-American pitcher for Florida SouthWestern are the only three certainties in this world these days as Baylee Haggard was name a First Team selection in 2022, marking the sixth straight season a Bucs hurler has earned the honor.  She was 25-2 this season while notching a 1.40 ERA, ranking in the top 10 in the country in both categories.  She fired 140 1/3 innings this season, earning both Suncoast Conference and FCSAA Pitcher of the Year accolades. 
 
Feline Poot was named an NJCAA All-American for the second straight season, bumping up from a Third Teamer as a freshman in 2021 to a Second Teamer as a sophomore in 2022. She was one of the most feared hitters in the country this season, hitting .433 and slugging .787 with 17 doubles, 14 home runs, and 73 RBIs on the year. She finishes her two and a half seasons with the Bucs with a career slash line of .421/.466/.813 with 34 doubles, a program record 37 home runs, and a program record 165 RBIs.  
 
A pair of FSW freshmen outfielders were named Third Team All-Americans. 
 
Laura Vigna was the Bucs leading hitter from wire to wire atop the lineup, finishing the year with a .454 average while ripping a team high 24 doubles and scoring a team best 73 runs.  She had 32 multi-hit games this season and recorded at least one hit in 50 of 61 games. 
 
Joining Vigna as a Third Team selection was speedster Shenita Tucker.  Tucker was rock solid for the Bucs this season, playing in 58 games and hitting .416 while finishing third in the NJCAA with 66 stolen bases in 68 attempts and scoring 62 runs on the year.  She was an All-Tournament Team selection at the NJCAA National Tournament, collecting a hit in 7 of 8 games while stealing a tournament high 9 bases along the way. 
 
FSW had four of seven All-American honorees from Region VIII as the quartet was joined by Pensacola's Georgia Hood and Central Florida's Gianna Guerriero and Savannah Barnett.  
 
Yavapai led all teams with six All-Americans including five First Teamers while the Bucs National Championship game foe, McLennan had two players named to the First Team.
