Poot Earns Bucs Third Straight FCSAA Player of the Week Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the third consecutive week a Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week as Tuesday, sophomore Feline Poot drew the honors for the second time this season.

Poot hit .615 for the Bucs last week, going 8-14 in a 4-0 week for FSW.  She drove in 10 runs on the week, driving her career RBI total up to 151, breaking the program's all-time record previously held by National Championship teammate Natavia Ellis.    She began the week with her best effort, going a perfect 4-4 with a double and a triple, while driving in three in a win over State College of Florida.  She closed out the week with another big ballgame, going 3-3 with a homer and five RBIs as FSW blew past Polk State 11-3.

Once again one of the top hitters in the country, Poot is slashing at a .449/.480/.797 rate this season with 14 doubles and 10 home runs, while driving in a career high 59 runs.

Poot is the third straight Buc to win the state Player of the Week award after Sterre den Duijn picked up week seven honors and Shenita Tucker claimed the title last week.

Poot and the Bucs have won 22 straight games and are 45-4 on the season heading into the final week of the 2022 regular season.

FSW will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Melbourne to take on Eastern Florida before wrapping up the regular season Saturday against Miami Dade.
