Marcum Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- You couldn't write a much better script to the start of a career for Florida SouthWestern State freshman Alyson Marcum as the lefty made her collegiate debut for the Buccaneers Friday in the NFCA Classic and three days later, she was named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week.

Marcum made her collegiate debut on Friday and the Bucs couldn't have asked the freshman to do much more than she did as she tossed five shutout innings, allowing just three hits in a pair of come from behind wins for FSW.  She saw the circle for the first time in the Bucs opening game of the NFCA Classic and came in in an 8-1 hole early on and spun 3 1/3 shutout frames to allow the Bucs to come back and tie the score and eventually take the lead and then go ahead and win a 9-8 final.  Just hours later she was back in in a tight spot again, this time coming in in a 6-4 game in the 6th inning to help close out a Buccaneer win over Wabash Valley.

Marcum and the Bucs are 19-3 overall on the year and ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA Top 20.  The Bucs are in the midst of an extended downtime ahead of Suncoast Conference play where they will be in action on March 16th when they host South Florida State in a doubleheader from City of Palms Park.
