MELBOURNE, Fla.- The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers wrapped up a mini three game road trip on Saturday, riding a four run 4th inning to an 8-3 win over the Eastern Florida State Titans in Melbourne.

The Bucs struck first in the 2nd, loading the bases with two outs in the inning before Rebeca Laudino launched a bases clearing double to the wall to give FSW a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning Laudino used her wheels to help pull of a perfectly executed double steal to swipe home and extend the Bucs lead to 4-0.

A double from Chelsea Brown and a two out single up the middle from Beth Reid in the 3rd extended the Bucs lead to 5-0.

The Titans finally broke through in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring twice to cut the Bucs lead to 5-2 at the end of three.

With one out in the 4th, Feline Poot crushed her sixth home run of the season deep to center to make it 6-2 and later in the inning Taylor Jensen scored on a wild pitch to stretch the FSW lead back to five at 7-2.

Eastern pushed a run across in the bottom of the 4th to make it a 7-3 game and it stayed that way to the 6th when Laudino scored on a groundout from Lindsey Corbin to once again make it a five run game at 8-3.

Sarah Clontz finished what she started in the circle for the Bucs in the 7th, striking out a pair to wrap up an 8-3 win for FSW.

The Bucs finished with seven hits in the win with Shanika Klett the lone FSW hitter to pick up more than one hit on the afternoon.  Laudino was 1-2 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored while Poot was 1-2 with a homer at the top of the lineup.  Clontz went the distance, yielding five hits and one earned run to pick up her first win of the 2021 season.

FSW improves to 15-2 on the year with the win while Eastern Florida falls to 13-10.

The Bucs will have the week off before returning to action next weekend in Columbus, Georgia where they will take part in the NFCA Classic with five games Friday and Saturday.
