MIAMI, FLA.- The #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved to 9-0 on the season Tuesday afternoon in Miami as they downed the Miami Dade Sharks 11-0 and 8-2 in non-conference doubleheader action.

The Bucs wasted little time getting going in game one as Madison Johnson singled with two outs to extend the FSW first and Shanika Klett took advantage, crushing her third home run of the season over the wall in center to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead.

FSW added to their lead with a run in the second on an RBI single from Rebeca Laudino and then made it a 4-0 game in the third as Klett cracked her second longball in as many tries to lead off the inning.

Klett drove in her fourth run of the game in the fourth when she singled with two outs to make it a 5-0 game.

FSW blew the game wide open in the fifth as Lindsey Corbin drove home a pair with a double and Owen Bowers launched a two run home run of her own to make it 9-0.  Later in the inning Natavia Ellis singled home Johnson to push the lead to 11-0 and that is where it ended as Kelsi Collins finished off her shutout in the circle to give the Bucs a run rule win in five.

FSW outhit Miami Dade 12-4 in the game, getting multi-hit efforts from Klett, who finished a perfect 3 for 3 with two home runs and four RBI's, and Corbin who went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI's in the win. Collins improved to 4-0 on the year, going all five innings while allowing just four hits, all singles and striking out four.

#3 FSW/MIAMI DADE GAME ONE BOX SCORE

FSW picked up in game two right where they left off in game one as they loaded the bases and then plated two without a ball being put in play to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Bucs added to the lead in the second as Johnson laid down a bunt to sqeeze a run home and Klett lifted a fly ball to left to drive home another to make it 4-0 FSW.

Klett continued her monster day in the fourth, singling up the middle with two outs to score two and push the FSW lead to 6-0.

Miami Dade got on the board for the first time all afternoon in the fifth with a two out single up the box, but Johnson gunned down the second runner trying to score to end the frame with minimal damage done and the Bucs still in front 6-1.

After a quick 1-2-3 top of the sixth for the Bucs, the Sharks struck again, using a leadoff walk to put traffic on the basepaths before eventually pushing a run across to make it a 6-2 game.

Pallas Potter gave the Bucs some breathing room in the top of the seventh, blasting a home run to center to cushion the FSW lead to 8-2.

That is how it would end as Haley Ellefson finished off the Sharks in order in the bottom of the inning as FSW won their ninth straight 8-2 to begin the year.

Sarah Lawton worked four scoreless in the circle to earn her first win of the season while Ellefson notched her first save with three effective innings out of the FSW bullpen.  Klett and Potter powered the Bucs offense, combining for five runs driven home in the win.  Lindsey Corbin finished with a pair of hits, including a double and a run scored for FSW.
