FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers finished the first half of their 2024-2025 season with a bang Saturday afternoon at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, putting up a 102 points in a 102-61 blowout of Victory Rock Prep.
The Bucs came out firing as K'jei Parker drilled a three in the opening minute and hit another moments later to get FSW out to an 11-3 lead four minutes in. Victory Rock counterpunched, scoring 8 of the next 10 points to draw back to within two before an 8-0 run from the Bucs cushioned their lead back to 21-13 midway through the half. The game continued to go back and forth when a three from Eugene Alvin and a finish on the inside from Chol Machot padded their lead to 14 at 37-23. The Blue Devils cut into the lead before the break, but FSW still went to the half comfortably in front, leading it 42-33.
FSW came out in the second half with a bang as Parker found Ahmed Soumahoro for an alley oop dunk to get the crowd going and push the Bucs lead back to double digits at 44-33. Moments later an offensive rebound and tip in from Alvin gave FSW their first 20 point lead of the game and they didn't stop there as Soumahoro scored on a putback of his own to make it 67-39 Bucs with 13:56 remaining. The game was never close again as Matt Vaughn came in and gave the Bucs a spark late with seven quick points and Abdoulaye Konate put a bow on it with a breakaway slam as FSW went on to win it 102-61 with their second 100 point effort of the season.
Five Bucs scored in double figures, led by Parker who poured in 21 on just 10 field goal attempts while Soumahoro and Alvin each added 14 and Machot finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. FSW shot 52% from the field and 41% from three in the win while outrebounding Victory Rock 58-36.
The Bucs improve to 6-4 on the year with the win while Victory Rock remains winless against NJCAA competition.
FSW will now have a long break before their next action December 30-31 in Panama City when they take on Frank Phillips and Gulf Coast State in the Gulf Coast New Year's Classic.
