FORT MYERS, Fla.- New Florida SouthWestern Head Men's Basketball Coach Darrin Wallace has rounded out his staff for the upcoming 2024-2025 season as he has announced the hiring of Dylan Sortillo as his Assistant Coach.
Sortillo comes to Fort Myers after two seasons at the University of Illinois-Chicago where he served as the Director of Basketball Operations along with his coaching duties for the Flames. At UIC Sortillo was responsible for managing daily operations of the program including travel, recruiting efforts, and player development. He helped the Flames sign their leading scorer from a season ago, Isaiah Rivera, as well as All-Conference guard Jace Carter. Sortillo also helped UIC to a first in 2024, as the Flames captured their first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament win in program history. Prior to his time in the Windy City, Sortillo spend time coaching at his alma mater, Augustana College.
As a player, Sortillo has the honor of being the winningest player in Augustana history, playing in a pair of National Championship games and two other Elite Eights for the Vikings. He was a two-time All-Conference selection and a member of Augustana's 1,000 point club.
Sortillo joins a Bucs squad coming off of another 20 win season in 2023-2024 as FSW put together a 22-9 overall record and a 12-4 mark in Citrus Conference action.
Sortillo and the Bucs will get their 2024-2025 season underway on November 1st when they take part in the Indian River Classic. FSW fans will get to see the Purple and Aqua in action at home for the first time on November 21st when they host Ranger College in a big National matchup.
