FORT MYERS, Fla.- After wowing Buccaneer fans this season with his highlight reel dunks, Florida SouthWestern big man Yvens Paul is headed to the Division I level after signing with Eastern Kentucky University where he will have three years left to play with the Colonels.
Paul played in all 31 games for the Bucs this season, drawing 19 starts. He put up 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 70% from the field which led the state of Florida and ranked 4th Nationally this season. He scored in double figures 11 times on the year and racked up four double-doubles including a 14 point, 14 rebound game in a win over Palm Beach State, and a 12 point, 13 rebound effort in which he was a perfect 6-6 from the field against Miami Dade late in the season.
Paul will join an Eastern Kentucky team coming off of their first Conference Championship since 1979 after going 12-4 to win the ASUN while going 17-14 overall on the year.
Paul is one of six Bucs to sign at the NCAA Division I level this season joining teammates Dezdrick Lindsay (Oregon), Jaehshon Thomas (Radford), Reis Jones (Charleston Southern), Karmani Gregory (USC-Upstate), and AJ Hopkins (UT-Martin).
