MIAMI, Fla.- The #13 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are finding their stride. The Bucs easily cleared the 90 point mark for the fourth straight game, running past Miami Dade 95-79 Wednesday night to improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in Southern Conference play on the season.
The Bucs got things going early as Kario Oquendo knifed the lane and rattled the rim with a two handed slam to give FSW a 9-2 lead just two minutes into the action. They continued to pad their lead, taking an 18-5 advantage at the 14:00 mark. Terry Roberts
found CJ Lane
in the corner for a three to stretch the FSW lead to 15 and moments later Jaden Campbell
snuck behind the Miami Dade defense and elevated over the top of a Shark defender for a thunderous one handed slam to give the Bucs their largest lead of the half at 29-10. The Bucs hit a little bit of a rut in the final five minutes of the half as Miami Dade was able to slice their deficit in half, but FSW still went to the locker room with a comfortable lead at 38-28.

FSW came out of the locker rooms at half ready to go and two early baskets by Oquendo quickly cushioned their lead to 52-36. The teams traded buckets to the midway point of the half as the Bucs remained in control leading 60-45. A wing three from Kaiyem Cleary followed by a one handed dunk for the Bucs newcomer gave FSW their biggest lead of the game at 81-58 and they would cruise to the finish line to a 95-79 victory.
The Bucs clicked on all cylinders, shooting 58% from the field on the night, shaking off a 35-11 advantage for Miami Dade in free throw attempts. Campbell was outstanding yet again, topping his previous career high for the fourth straight game, going for 24 points on 10-12 shooting while posting a eye popping +33 plus/minus rating. Oquendo continued his solid run with 17 points for the Bucs while Roberts had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots for FSW.
FSW wins their fourth straight to improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in Southern Conference play with the victory. Miami Dade falls to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in league action.
The Bucs wrap up the first round of Southern Conference play on Saturday at home when they host State College of Florida in a 2 PM tip from Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
